Rosemont’s Sturgess thinks its “crazy” to expect an open and transparent government

In Wednesday’s Green Valley News, Rosemont Vice President Jaime Sturgess said that concerns about Rosemont’s participation in the Forest Service’s cooperating agency meeting were “crazy.”  He said, “[w]e go to meetings when we’re invited and we’re required to attend them. The whole thing is crazy. Our Memorandum of Understanding (with the Forest Service) requires us to attend those meetings.” Continue reading

Rosemont keeps spinning

In a guest opinion in today’s Green Valley News, Augusta CEO Gil Glaussen attempts to walk back his statements to investors about the other potential mining opportunities in Santa Rita Mountains.  Again, Mr. Claussen appears to be telling us a different story than he is telling investors.  Unlike his misrepresentations of the views of mine opponents in his guest opinion piece, our original posting on this topic directly used his words, not ours. Rosemont Copper is Not Telling Us the Whole Story

Rosemont Copper, and its parent company Augusta Resource, would like for us to believe that their massive copper mine in the Santa Rita Mountains will not impact Green Valley and Sahuarita.

This is a different story than they are telling potential investors — that it has plans to mine its claims on the western side of the Santa Rita Mountains, which will clearly impact Green Valley and surrounding areas.

In a “roadshow” presentation to potential investors, Augusta clearly shows that the Rosemont Mine is part of  their “Huge Land Position” which includes holdings on the western side of the Santa Rita Mountains facing Green Valley. (Click here to download the full presentation) Continue reading
